DR JAFFE'S STORY
Dr. Todd Jaffe was born in Miami, Florida, into a family of physicians. With both his father and grandfather practicing medicine, he felt called to become a doctor from an early age. A driven student, he left high school early and graduated college in just three years at the age of 19. By 22, he had earned his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School—one of the youngest graduates in the school’s history.
After completing his residency and fellowship at the prestigious Bowman Gray School of Medicine, N.C. Baptist Medical Center, Dr. Jaffe authored three medical papers, spoke at two national conferences, and was appointed Head of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at the Medical University of South Carolina at just 26 years old.
Career in Pain & Addiction Medicine
After leaving teaching to enter private practice in Florida, Dr. Jaffe helped open one of the nation’s first Surgicenters. It was during this time that he discovered his true passion: treating chronic pain, cancer pain, and addiction.
This dedication continues the legacy of his father, Dr. Edward Jaffe, who established one of Miami’s first heroin treatment facilities and founded a center for adolescents struggling with addiction and behavioral disorders. His father also served on the Governor’s Commission on Drug Treatment. Inspired by that legacy, Dr. Jaffe became Board Certified and a Fellow in Addiction Medicine, with over 25 years of experience treating opioid addiction and providing Suboxone/Buprenorphine therapy, along with counseling and recovery workshops for patients and families.
A Lifelong Commitment to Patients
Dr. Jaffe’s career has taken him from Florida to Oklahoma, Guam (“where America’s day begins”), and now Arizona. While he once attempted retirement, his commitment to patient care has always drawn him back to practice.
Today, he is recognized for combining ethical, evidence-based pain management with compassionate addiction treatment—always prioritizing the least invasive and safest solutions for his patients.
Personal Life
Dr. Jaffe has been married to his wife, Shirley, for 22 years, during which they have renewed their vows 25 times. They share their home with their two beloved dachshund “daughters.”
OUR MISSION
Dr. Jaffe’s treatment vision is the same as that of the major societies, the government agencies, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Since the 1980’s, a few doctors have been crying out against large doses of opiates for chronic pain. And in the last ten years the research has confirmed their warnings. Chronic pain can be reduced through certain pathways at the sides of your brain. Chronic narcotic usage actually reduces this ability. This practice believes in maximizing function through the least invasive techniques, the lowest possible usage of medications, and Dr. Jaffe routinely exceeds the necessary continuing education requirements, reading journals daily to stay up with the best means of treating your pain.
